Today's Lunchtime Run

Today I wanted to go for a lunchtime run outside. My intent was to run over to the St. Anthony Park neighborhood to get a look at a neighborhood I'm not really familiar with. Well folks, it looks like I just grazed it; I took a quick look at a map before going but didn't realize that continuing up Raymond across the railroadtracks would have brought me into the neighborhood proper. I think my run today brought me into the outer husk which has some nice areas but is a little less quaint and tucked in that the area north of the tracks.

I started out at the U of M's Rec Center and ran down Harvard Street to River Road. I then ran along River Road to Franklin. I should have continued up River Road until I hit Cecil St which would have let me run along the River and then jut up straight into the Prospect Park Witches Tower area. That way I could have avoided some less than inspiring streets near Luxton Park.
Had I consulted a map a little more thoroughly, I could have avoided running along University for such a distance. I would have known that I could cover that while tucked up in Prospect Park.

My way back was the quick, non-scenic route. I ran all the way back on the transitway between campuses. I needed to get back to take a shower and return to work. If I didn't have to do that, I might have taken a slow route back through Prospect Park and River Road.

It was a great run. I kind of needed it. Springtime and working in a cubicle is kind of a powderkeg. For awhile I was running full speed on the transitway back to work. I was sort of surprised; my body seemed to be doing it by itself.
Time: 1 hour.
Food consumed after run: 1 Greek Wrap and some water.
