Dave & Shanice - A Magical Adventure: Part 4

Dave and Shanice looked out the window of the cab watching the late afternoon air smear. They felt like a little moist pair of leather gloves. Harmless and lovely but wrinkly and not proud. They were like microbes along for the ride. Happy to be a part of the big oozing smear. Anything they focused on winked at them before bubbling forth into a living fractal. It was like happiness.

When the cab stopped at the Cheswick Annex, they quietly exited the cab, forgetting to pay. The cab driver heard the car door close and he said "Wha?" and bolted out of the cab to see where his riders had disappeared. They were gone, merged with the dusky atmosphere.

Into the lobby and up the elevator to the 11th floor. Dave led the way out of habit. He and Shanice walked slowly, like two plastic bags sliding on soap scum. Grandma was on a cruise so they'd have the whole suite to themselves. The party was just getting started.

Lovebirds. Outlaws. Human Squids. Lovebirds. These two.

Dale punched the code to open the door to Grandma's suite and in they slipped. A quiet click as the door closed behind them. The warm of carpet.
