"This sticky rice is a mood enhancer." Dave touched the handle of his spoon gingerly, tilted his head and looked across the table with an unfocused expression.
Shanice looked back at him flatly.
"Let me rephrase. This sticky rice is loaded with botanical mood enhancers."
Shanice drooled. "Of the legal variety?" She drooled more. It was rainbow drool. Her eyes were becoming pupily.
Dave put his elbows up on the table and ran his tongue over his teeth. His teeth felt better than they ever had. His teeth felt for the first time. They felt benevolent and precious.
"Dave, have you tried the beets?" Shanice had a portion of beet in her mouth and some red was dripping off her lower lip.
Shanice looked back at him flatly.
