The face of the wizard peeked out from the hole in the ancient Redwood tree. Then, quickly, it retreated. Luckily, no one saw the face. Except for one person. Jinglebells Roberts. The one person who should not have seen the wizard's face. For reasons we are soon to find out. Not too soon however. First we need to set the scene and tell you about where we are.
Location: Junior's Appliance Compound. North of the Sugar Valley. Up the road from the rubble pit and just past the cougar caves. Now you have a sense of the precise location.
For those of you who did not have a chance to read the lengthy prelude that was made available as a digital text download, I will catch you up on the necessary information you will need to know about Jinglebells Roberts.
1. He is the length and width of a regular size Whachmacallit? Candy Bar. He is not the same shape as a Whachmacallit? Candy Bar.
2. He wears red felt pants and a hat made of grass.
3. His ears are lovely little waxy things.
4. He is an herbivore. Only herbs. Herbs and sauce. And jugs and jugs of burgundy wine. Spicy burgundy.
4. He is not amenable to wizards. For reasons we may or may not discuss at a later date.
So, back to the action. The wizard's head peeked out and was seen by no one. Except for Jinglebells Roberts. Jinglebells was not seen seeing the wizard. If he had, the wizard would have probably thrown a smoke cloud and attempted the flee or perhaps an immediate battle would have ensued. Perhaps a claw battle or a splash battle utilizing special potions, lotions, and seltzers. As things unfolded, there was just a sighting. A sighting of the quick moving wizard's face. The face peeked out and then quickly went back into the hold in the tree. So, the wizard still was in the tree most likely. Maybe not though. Jinglebells had seen some trees that were fully hollowed out and were connected to underground tubes leading back the wizard's underworld.
A note about the wizard's face: It is small and has a pinched expression, like a prune with facial feature. Also, it is downy and in the morning, dew-laden. In the night, the faces can become somewhat shiny and/or bulbous.
